Look Up and Live
That same Missouri law requires that
you notify your electric utility before performing any activity that
would move persons, machinery or equipment within 10 feet of an
overhead power line.
Overhead power lines have no
insulation and can carry more than 500,000 volts. If you touch one of
these wires with your body or an object you are holding (such as a
paint roller or ladder) while you are grounded, you will provide an
instant path for electricity and will be hurt or even killed.
In compliance with Missouri law, a
letter describing our line location practices and contact personnel is
on file with the Recorder of Deeds in each county we serve. For a list
of utilities with underground facilities in your area, contact your
County Recorder’s Office.
“Look Up & Live” is
a theme we use to educate our elementary students about safety hazards
they may face at home in their yard, or at one of the many parks
located in our communities.
The programs are designed to provide area students with information on
how electricity is generated and transmitted to their homes and
schools, electrical safety, special Arbor Day presentations,
cooperative business principles and youth leadership. Kids of all ages
are invited to learn more about electric safety by visiting
www.cuivre.com and clicking on “Cuivre Kid’s Club”.
