Construction coordinator – WHITE RIVER CONNECT

White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s fiber subsidiary, White River Connect, LLC, will soon be offering a robust fiber optic system to all its members and beyond. This system will help connect our communities with a reliable internet service, even in the most rural areas, and will ensure all have access to the most advanced fiber optic system in today’s world.  We look forward to building a world-class fiber network that will transform our rural communities just as the Cooperative’s founders did with electric.   White River Connect is currently looking to add to its team of amazing employees the position of Construction Coordinator.


As a Construction Coordinator, you will play a crucial role overseeing and coordinating the construction activities for the deployment of our Fiber-to-the-Home network. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and local authorities to ensure the successful execution of construction projects in a timely manner.


    • OSP Fiber Technicians, Drop Technicians, Production Splicers, and Dispatchers


      • Coordinate and manage all aspects of construction projects related to the deployment of the FTTx network, including site surveys, trenching, cable laying, splice closures, and fiber testing.
      • Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality standards and safety regulations.
      • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, identify and resolve any issues or obstacles, ensuring projects are completed within the defined timelines.
      • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and external agencies to ensure the availability of necessary resources, materials, and equipment for construction.
      • Maintain accurate documentation, including progress reports, construction drawings, permits, and records of material deliveries and installations.
      • Ensure compliance with local regulations, zoning requirements, and permits during the construction process.
      • Collaborate with engineering teams to address any network design changes or modifications required during the construction phase.
      • Conduct regular meetings with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide updates on project status, resolve issues, and manage expectations.
      • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and excellence in construction practices, promoting adherence to standard operating procedures.


    • Proven experience in coordinating and managing construction projects, preferably in the telecommunications industry or FTTx deployment.
    • Strong knowledge of construction methods, practices, and regulations, with a focus on fiber optic networks.
    • Proficiency in project management tools and track project plans, schedules, and budgets.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and decision making with construction-related challenges.
    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation and records.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to construction sites as needed.


    • Contractors: You would collaborate with external contractors who are responsible for the actual construction work, such as trenching, laying fiber optic cables, equipment, and performing splicing or termination tasks. Building strong relationships with contractors is crucial for ensuring the timely and efficient completion of construction projects.
    • Local Authorities: Coordinating with local authorities and government agencies to obtain necessary permits, licenses, and approvals required for construction activities. This involves communicating with city officials, utility companies, zoning boards, and other relevant authorities to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize any potential disruptions or conflicts.
    • Property Owners and Managers: FTTx networks often require access to private properties or buildings for the installation of equipment or of fiber optic cables. Establishing and maintaining positive relationships to secure necessary access agreements. Clear communication and coordination are essential to minimize any inconvenience to property owners or tenants.
    • Utility Companies: Collaborating with utility companies, such as power, gas, or water providers, is crucial to coordinate construction activities and ensure the safety and integrity of existing infrastructure. This involves obtaining information about existing underground utilities, coordinating any necessary relocations or adjustments, and adhering to utility standards and regulations.
    • Community Members: Depending on the scale of the FTTx projects, it may be necessary to engage with the local community to address any concerns or provide project updates. This can involve attending community meetings, responding to inquiries, and keeping residents informed about construction schedules or potential disruptions. Establishing positive relationships with community members is important for maintaining a good reputation for the company and minimizing any negative impact on the community.


    • Education – Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
    • Experience -All candidates must have at least 5 years of related experience.


    • Working inside and outside during regular hours and occasional overtime, including weekends and holidays if necessary. Normal safety precautions and practices are required. Position may require travel outside the service area from time to time. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday.


    • Frequent physical activity includes sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying materials under fifteen pounds.


    • Capable of operating a personal computer, calculator, printer, copy machine, telephone, shredder, and any other required office equipment.


    • Comfortable in speaking on the telephone and via online conference tools. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately for work and safety compliance.
