SHIFT SCHEDULE

Shift times are as follows:

  • Monday 12:00 am – 8:00 am & 4:00 pm – 12:00 am
  • Tuesday – Thursday 4:00 pm – 12:00 am
  • Rotating, once a month shift on a Sunday 12:00 am – 8:00 am.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of a dispatcher is to provide quality customer service, ensure safety of electrical crews, and be responsible for technical functions including monitoring, evaluating and relaying information related to dispatching.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

    • Accepts trouble calls and member inquiries, obtains pertinent information, records it on proper forms and dispatches it to the proper employee and crew in accordance with established policies and procedures and Federal Communications Commission’s rules and regulations.
    • Maintains daily dispatch records.
    • Continuous monitoring of WRVEC’s system in real-time and operating automated electrical devices via SCADA as needed to maintain a stable system.
    • Coordinates, reviews, and oversees responsible electrical switching activities; maintains safe conditions to enable crews to efficiently restore power, investigate power outages and isolate damaged equipment.
    • Managing outage situations, including contacting repair crews for outages using the Interactive Voice Response system, Outage Management system, CIS, AMR, and SCADA system.
    • Coordinates scheduled power outage dates and duration with commercial and residential customers.
    • Transmits information to the field trucks via the two-way radio system. Giving prompt response to any request in non-emergency or emergency situations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

    • Minimum high school diploma or GED certificate.

Preferred Experience: 

      • At least two (2) years of related electric utility experience.
      • Dispatch experience preferred.

ABILITIES AND SKILLS

      • Ability to adapt to industry specific software.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written.
      • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
      • Ability to provide great customer service.
      • Analytical capabilities with attention to detail.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

    • Must have knowledge of system geography and cooperative policies and procedures as they relate to the activities in the position.
