900 WRVEC members without power due to lightning strike

Branson, Mo. – As of 7:30 a.m., White River Valley Electric Cooperative has widespread power outages throughout the Ridgedale area. Approximately 900 members are without power due to a lightning strike to a transmission power line.

Crews from KAMO Power, a transmission cooperative, have been dispatched to the Ridgedale area to assess the damage and are working to repair the damage from the lightning strike.

All downed power lines should be considered extremely hazardous. WRVEC asks that the public stay away from any downed power lines as they may still have electricity running through them. It is critical to leave these lines undisturbed and to report them to WRVEC.

The co-op is working diligently to restore power to members as quickly and safely as possible. For continued updates as they happen, visit WRVEC’s Facebook or Twitter page. To report outages, members are encouraged to call the WRVEC outage reporting line at 1-800-879-4056.
