Fishing Tournament to Benefit Student Education

Tomorrow morning anglers will gather from across the Ozarks to White River Valley Electric Cooperative’s annual Hooked on Education fishing tournament benefiting the Scholarship Trust Fund. The event is expected to have near 200 boats competing.

The first flight will launch at 7 a.m. from Theodosia Marina at Bull Shoals Lake. Prize money totals 70 percent payback. Fishermen still have time to register for the tournament. Registration and check-in will begin at 5 a.m. on Saturday.

“This is one of the premiere fishing tournaments in this area and we look forward to making this the best year yet,” Tournament Director Cindy Rains said. “We have been able to provide local students with more than $1.6 million in financial assistance towards college tuition and career training expenses.”

The fee for a two-person team is $100. The official weigh-in begins at 3 p.m. and is open to the public to come watch.
