Severe storm knocks out power to 4,800 WRVEC members

Branson, Mo. – As of 8:30 a.m., there are approximately 150 White River Valley Electric Cooperative members without power in the Ava area.

Crews have been working since 8 p.m. last night and will continue working until power is completely restored.

When the outage peaked at 9:30 p.m. last night, 4,800 members were without power. These outages heavily affected members in Stone and Taney counties, but there were outages scattered across all five counties WRVEC serves.

Outages are storm related including a few broken poles, downed power lines and trees on the lines. WRVEC asks that the public stay away from any downed power lines that may still be on the ground or hanging from poles or trees as they may still have electricity running through them.

To report outages, members are encouraged to call the WRVEC outage reporting line at 1-800-695-0056.
