Longtime electric cooperative CEO announces retirement after 40 years of service

Chris Hamon, CEO
Branson, Missouri – White River Valley Electric Cooperative announced that Chris Hamon, Chief Executive Officer, will retire from the company effective September 1, 2026, after a remarkable 40-year career with the organization.
Under Hamon’s leadership, the cooperative has successfully navigated a range of operational and environmental challenges – including severe weather events and complex legal matters, while maintaining organizational resilience and stability. He oversaw the implementation of significant technological enhancements during this time, establishing a modern and efficient distribution system that will continue to serve members reliably for years to come.
Hamon has also had the privilege of serving on the boards of National Rural Cooperative Finance Corporation (CFC), National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC), KAMO Power, ShoMe Power, and numerous regional civic organizations. Through these leadership roles – he contributed to shaping industry standards, fostering collaboration across the cooperative network, advancing innovative solutions that benefit the broader cooperative community, and encouraging community development at large.
“Serving as CEO of White River has been the greatest honor of my career,” said Hamon. “I am deeply proud of what we’ve accomplished together and grateful to our employees, members, and community partners for their commitment and trust in our Cooperative.”
The Board of Directors has initiated a comprehensive search process to identify Hamon’s successor. The search will consider both internal and external candidates to ensure the company selects the strongest leader for its next chapter. Until the new CEO is appointed, Hamon will continue in his role to ensure a smooth transition.
“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Chris for his outstanding leadership and unwavering dedication to the members we serve,” said Board President Neal Crum. “We are confident the strong foundation he has built will ensure the Cooperative’s continued success for years to come.”
Details about the leadership transition and next steps in the search process will be communicated as they are finalized.
