Scholarships

To encourage the pursuit of higher learning in our community, White River Valley Electric Cooperative (WRVEC) has allocated funds from Operation Round Up to offer $1,500 scholarships to local undergraduates within the community. In 28 years of existence, Operation Round Up has given nearly 2 million in scholarship funds.

To be eligible, first-time applicants must either (1) reside in our five-county service territory or (2) go to a high school located in our five-county service territory. Students may renew their scholarship up to four times (re-acceptance is not guaranteed). Candidates for scholarship funds are evaluated on the basis of financial need, overall academic performance, extracurricular activities, and college acceptance.

The following information must be submitted for consideration:

  • Online application
  • Up-to-date transcript showing student’s GPA
  • Current year’s FAFSA
  • Two recommendation letters from (1) an employer or personal reference other than a relative, and (2) a school counselor or teacher. Both letters need to attest to the student’s talents, financial need, GPA, and seriousness of purpose.
  • Essay (250-500 words)
    • First-time applicants must answer the prompt: “How will attending college help you achieve your career goals?”
    • Students wishing to reapply for the scholarship must answer: “How has your college experience surprised you? In what ways has your dreams and goals changed since initially applying for this scholarship?”
