Brief Bio
Keet Short is a veteran,farmer and a Stone county native whose roots in the area run deep. He and his wife Candy still reside and raise beef cattle on their farm in Ponce de Leon,a farm that was homesteaded by his family in the 1860’s. He was raised on the farm by a family that values hard work. His father milked cows by day and worked on the construction of Table Rock Dam while his mother worked on the farm. Keet raised his children here and now has three grandchildren. He graduated from Galena High School in 1965,served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1976 and earned his BS degree in Industrial Education at Missouri State University in 1972. As a farmer and a business owner,Keet is devoted to working and improving Stone County. In 1961 he and his father John opened Short Construction Inc. and built many custom homes,condominiums and commercial buildings that are the foundation of Kimberling City and Branson West today. Keet proudly served on the White River Electric coop Board for 21 years and is a three time past President. He was also the Kamo Board President 2022-2023. During his tenure on the WRVEC board,he was committed to keeping rates low, service and reliability high while supporting the use of a diverse energy portfolio. Keet was invested in his position on the White River Board and stayed current with federal laws impacting the coop. He earned the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association Gold certificate which is recognized as the top certificate. Keet is excited for a opportunity to serve again.
