Severe storms knock out power to over 6,000 WRVEC members

Branson, Mo. – As of 6:30 a.m., there are approximately 200 White River Valley Electric Cooperative members without power in the Ava area.

All crews have been working around the clock since 1:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon and will continue working until power is completely restored.

When the outage peaked at 9:30 p.m. last night, over 6,000 members were without power. These outages heavily affected members in Taney, Christian and Douglas counties.

Severe storms rolled through the WRVEC service area causing a numerous broken poles, downed power lines and trees on the lines. We ask that the public stay away from any downed power lines that may still be on the ground or hanging from poles and/ or trees as they may still be energized.

To report outages, members are encouraged to call the WRVEC outage reporting line at 1-800-695-0056 or visit www.whiteriver.org.
