White River Valley Electric organizes food drive near you

Branson, Missouri – One out of every four children in the Ozarks goes to bed hungry. Missouri ranks fifth in the nation for children not knowing when, where, or even if they will get their next meal. Many of our senior citizens face the terrible decision of choosing between buying prescriptions or buying groceries.

In an effort to make a positive difference in the lives of our Ozarks neighbors, the employees at White River Valley Electric Cooperative will rally once again for the fifth annual Power to turn Hunger into Hope campaign. In the past few years, between cash and food donations, WRVEC was able to account for over $100,000 worth of food for local food pantries. They will again be at

your local grocery stores collecting cash or food donations. With the help of local pantry partnerships, every dollar donated can purchase ten dollars’ worth of food.

Food insecurity negatively impacts cognitive development, school performance and has serious health consequences. The food drive will continue to alleviate some of the suffering in our service area and have a positive impact on the physical and emotional health of families in these five counties. The communities served can improve if those who live in them are healthier. Come out and to help neighbors in need. Together a difference can be made in the lives of many.
